Resumo: Technological prospecting based on patent applications is currently configured as an indispensable tool in the search for scientific knowledge at a technological level in a certain area of ​​interest, since the disclosure of much of this information is made available in this form of document. The objective of this article is to carry out a technological prospection based on patent applications related to extraction, processing, conservation, and packaging of palm hearts. The methodology is exploratory, with a mixed approach, using as technique the technological prospection from patents in the bases of the National Institute of Industrial Property, and Orbit Intelligence, from Questel Co. The main results showed, among other things, that Brazil, as the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of canned hearts of palm, has distinguished in the development of technologies linked to this production process and is the country that receives the most patent applications with this thematic.

O objetivo deste artigo foi realizar uma prospecção tecnológica a partir de pedidos de patentes referentes aos processos de extração, processamento, conservação e embalagem do palmito. A metodologia é exploratória, com abordagem mista, utilizando como técnica a prospecção tecnológica a partir de patentes nas bases do Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial e do Orbit Intelligence, da Questel Co.
