Júlio Francisco Blumetti FacóDissertação (Mestrado) - Universidade Federal do ABC, Programa de PósGraduação em Engenharia e Gestão da Inovação, Santo André, 2020.A interação entre o Lean Manufacturing (LM) e a Indústria 4.0 (I4.0) tem recebido crescente atenção nos últimos anos, entretanto a literatura ainda é escassa em avaliar como a junção desses dois temas pode influenciar os resultados das organizações. Diante disso, este trabalho buscou analisar, através de um estudo de caso, os impactos das interações entre I4.0 e LM em uma empresa do setor automotivo brasileiro. Desde o seu desenvolvimento no Japão na década de 1940, o Lean Manufacturing (LM) tem sido amplamente utilizado para maximizar o valor para os clientes e minimizar o desperdício. O amplo uso de Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TIC) na manufatura dá forma ao conceito da Indústria 4.0 (I4.0), conectando sistemas físicos e digitais e integrando cadeias de valor. Mesmo com abordagens diferentes, LM e I4.0 compartilham os mesmos objetivos de aumentar a flexibilidade e a produtividade. Duas visões sobre sua relação podem ser extraídas da literatura: o LM serve como base para a I4.0 e a I4.0 melhora a eficácia do LM. Embora a literatura apresente evidências dos impactos positivos da união dos dois conceitos, até o momento os estudos que demonstrem empiricamente os benefícios dessa interação são escassos, principalmente em empresas brasileiras. Os resultados desta pesquisa corroboram com a visão encontrada na literatura, pois indicam que a introdução dessas novas tecnologias impacta positivamente as práticas LM já existentes, e a presença prévia desse sistema de gestão forma as bases para a implementação eficaz da I4.0.The interaction between Lean Manufacturing (LM) and Industry 4.0 (I4.0) has received increasing attention in recent years, however the literature is still scarce in assessing how the combination of these two themes can influence the results of organizations. Therefore, this work sought to analyze, through a case study, the impacts of the interactions between I4.0 and LM in a Brazilian company of the automotive sector. Since its development in Japan in the 1940s, LM has been widely used to maximize value for customers and minimize waste. The widespread use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in manufacturing shapes the concept of I4.0, connecting physical and digital systems and integrating value chains. Even with different approaches, LM and I4.0 share the same goals of increasing flexibility and productivity. Two views on their relation can be drawn from the literature: the LM serves as the basis for I4.0 and I4.0 improves LM effectiveness. Although the literature presents evidence of the positive impacts of the union of the two concepts, so far there are few studies that empirically demonstrate the benefits of this interaction, especially in Brazilian companies.
