This work aimed to analyze the processes of precariousness of teaching work in times of Covid-19 pandemic, from an ontological and historical perspective.  The research was carried out through a bibliographical survey based on already consolidated literatures as well as recent publications about the impacts of the pandemic in Brazil, bringing as main lines the following aspects: the historical transformations that occurred in the labor world from the ontological conception of work; teaching and its main foundations and peculiarities; the precariousness of teaching in the context of the pandemic.  This work concludes by revealing that the precariousness of teaching is not a privilege of the pandemic, but the great changes in teaching practice resulting from this health emergency made it more difficult.  As a result of the overload, pressure and blending of personal and professional life, stress and illness are new conditions that educational literature is systematically beginning to show.
