Resumo: The aim of our work is to reflect education and professional training in Brazil, basing training criticism from the creation of Federal Institutes. Such an analysis is necessary as a condition to reposition the direction of Brazilian professional education in the face of the numerous changes suffered in the 20th century and in the first decades of the present. Focusing on the trajectory of educational legislation, we seek to demonstrate that the changes promoted in educational policies in the country, in addition to meeting the wishes of local and international productive sectors, do not materialize a nation project and do not form citizens for critical reading and participation. in the culture and society in which it operates. Searching the educational laws that regulate changes in formative focus, the work is also guided by writings of intellectuals who help to understand the formative path. On the other hand, it is based on thinkers of Critical Theory to inquire about the educational meaning and purpose. As a reflection, it is expected that the approach will contribute to the criticism about the understanding of the training of the worker, not only as an individual adjusted to the productive conditions, but as a being that is realized in his work creation.

Tal análisis es necesario como condición para reposicionar la dirección de la educación profesional brasileña ante los innumerables cambios sufridos en el siglo XX y en las primeras décadas del presente. Centrándonos en la trayectoria de la legislación educativa, buscamos demostrar que los cambios promovidos en las políticas educativas en el país, además de satisfacer los deseos de los sectores productivos locales e internacionales, no materializan un proyecto nacional y no forman ciudadanos para la lectura crítica y la participación. en la cultura y sociedad en la que opera. Al buscar las leyes educativas que regulan los cambios en el enfoque formativo, el trabajo también se guía por escritos de intelectuales que ayudan a comprender el camino formativo. Por otro lado, se basa en pensadores de la teoría crítica para indagar sobre el significado y el propósito educativo. Como reflejo, se espera que el enfoque contribuya a las críticas sobre la comprensión de la formación del trabajador, no solo como un individuo ajustado a las condiciones productivas, sino como un ser que se realiza en la creación de su trabajo.O objetivo do nosso trabalho é refletir a educação e a formação profissional no Brasil, fundamentando a crítica formativa a partir da criação dos Institutos Federais. Tal análise se faz necessária como condição para reposicionar os rumos da educação profissional brasileira frente às inúmeras mudanças sofridas no século XX e nas primeiras décadas do presente. Concentrando-nos na trajetória da legislação educacional, procuramos demonstrar que as mudanças promovidas nas políticas educacionais no país, além de atenderem os anseios dos setores produtivos locais e internacionais, não concretizam um projeto de nação e não formam o cidadão para a leitura e participação crítica na cultura e na sociedade em que se insere. Buscando nas legislações educacionais que regulam as mudanças de foco formativo, o trabalho se pauta também em escritos de intelectuais que ajudam a entender o percurso formativo. Por outro lado, funda-se em pensadores da Teoria Crítica para inquerir sobre o sentido e a finalidade educacional.
