Resumo: The main theme of this paper is the history of the school institution Colégio Comercial Visconde de Cairu in the historical section from 1954 to 2002 - which corresponds to its period of operation. Established in the city of São Paulo, in the neighborhood of Belenzinho, this educational institution went through several phases of Brazilian educational history and a series of legislative changes, with a marked trajectory in the evolutionary process of commercial education in Brazil. Proposed from the framework of investigative Marxist dialectics, the history of the institution presented here proposes to study the whole based on particularities, illustrating changes in education history and their influence in the development of high school to the present days.

Establecida en la ciudad de São Paulo, en el barrio de Belenzinho, esta institución educativa pasó por varias etapas de la historia educativa brasileña y una serie de cambios legislativos, con una marcada trayectoria en el proceso evolutivo de la educación comercial en Brasil. Propuesta desde el marco de la dialéctica marxista investigadora, la historia de la institución aquí presentada propone estudiar el conjunto a partir de particularidades, ilustrando los cambios en la historia de la educación y su influencia en el desarrollo del bachillerato hasta la actualidad.O presente artigo tem como temática central a história da instituição escolar Colégio Comercial Visconde de Cairu, no recorte histórico de 1954 a 2002, que corresponde ao seu período de funcionamento. Estabelecida na cidade de São Paulo, no bairro do Belenzinho, esta instituição educacional perpassou diversas fases da história educacional brasileira e uma série de mudanças legislativas, sendo sua trajetória marcante no processo evolutivo do ensino comercial no Brasil.
