Resumo: | This article analyzes educational changes caused by the arrival of the Portuguese Royal Family in Brazil, with an emphasis on commercial and agricultural education. The theoretical and methodological assumptions are inserted in the History of Education, an area of adjacent studies that grew over the 1990s, from the expansion of sources to historical studies. Firstly, we contextualize the arrival of the Royal Family and its changes in the various instances of the Brazilian colonial society. Subsequently, we highlight the educational changes that occurred in the first half of the 19th century to finally discuss the implementation of commercial and agricultural education in this period. History of education.Este artigo analisa as modificações educativas causadas pela vinda da Família Real Portuguesa para o Brasil, com destaque para o ensino comercial e agrícola. Os pressupostos teóricos e metodológicos estão inseridos na História da Educação, área de estudos fronteiriça que cresceu ao longo dos anos 1990 a partir da ampliação de fontes para os estudos históricos. Primeiramente, contextualizamos a vinda da Família Real e suas respectivas mudanças nas diversas instâncias da sociedade colonial brasileira. Posteriormente, destacamos as mudanças ocorridas no âmbito educacional na primeira metade do século XIX para, finalmente, discorrer sobre a implantação do ensino comercial e do ensino agrícola nesse período.
