Social representations of health and work relations in contemporary times: : listening to construction workers

Resumo: In this article, of historical-analytical nature and qualitative approach, it seeks to reflect on the concept of health from the narratives of nine construction workers in the city of Maringá-PR. Semi-structured interviews were conducted through WhatsApp. Bardin's (2016) content analysis was used to interpret the data. The results indicate that, for the interviewees, to be healthy is, above all, to be able to work. Thus, to be healthy is to be productive. The lack of a formal employment record, a mark of neoliberalism, and the pressure to meet deadlines were cited as stress-generating factors. It is possible to understand the existence of greater vulnerability of workers who are in informality, especially in the face of the possibility of accidents, common to the area of civil engineering. We conclude by validating the criticism of the capitalist logic as compromising the health of workers.

Las entrevistas semiestructuradas se realizaron a través de WhatsApp. Póngase en contacto con Bardin (2016) para la interpretación de los datos. Los resultados indican que, para los entrevistados, tener salud es, además de todo, estar apto para el trabajo. Por tanto, estar sano es ser productivo. La falta de registro de empleo formal, una marca del neoliberalismo, y la presión para cumplir los plazos se citaron como factores generadores de estrés. Es posible entender la existencia de una mayor vulnerabilidad de los trabajadores que están en la informalidad, especialmente en relación con la posibilidad de accidentes, común al área de la ingeniería civil. Se concluye por la valoración de las críticas a la lógica capitalista como comprometedora de la seguridad de los trabajadores.Neste artigo, de natureza histórico-analítica e abordagem qualitativa, busca-se refletir sobre o conceito de saúde a partir das narrativas de nove trabalhadores da construção civil do município de Maringá-PR. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas por meio de WhatsApp. Pauta-se na análise de conteúdo de Bardin (2016) para interpretação dos dados. Os resultados indicam que, para os entrevistados, ter saúde é, acima de tudo, estar apto ao trabalho. Assim, ser saudável é ser produtivo. A falta de registro empregatício formal, marca do neoliberalismo, e a pressão pelo cumprimento de prazos foram citados como fatores geradores de estresse. É possível compreender a existência de maior vulnerabilidade dos trabalhadores que estão na informalidade, em especial, frente à possibilidade de acidentes, comuns à área da engenharia civil.
