In the concept of Integrated Secondary Education – where teaching is understood in its broadest sense – the school environment, formal space of education, is part of a totality. So, it appears that knowledge is present beyond the school. This article intends to present public archives as a non-formal space. Thus, it seeks to know the pedagogical practices carried out by Brazilian public archival institutions. As for the methodological procedures, it is an exploratory research and the bibliographic review and document analysis are used as research techniques. For this purpose, the Revista Acervo, from the National Archives, volume 18, on the theme of Education, and volume 25, on Cultural Diffusion in Archives, are established as data collection sources. As well, the electronic sites of Brazilian public archives were analyzed, being one institution at the federal level and two at the state level. The highlights of the study were the National Archive, the Public Archive of the State of São Paulo and the State Archive of Rio Grande do Sul. It is concluded that the Brazilian public archival institutions already carry out exhibitions, technical visits, workshops, book launches, among other actions. Thus, open to coexistence with diversity, they can be used for educational practice. Be a place of production of school knowledge. Be a place of production of school knowledge.
