Resumo: This study has the purpose of examine the effects of the cultural integration process between the merger of companies Y and Z, based on a quantitative analysis. The data collection instrument used in the research consisted of a questionnaire based on the conceptual research model developed by Liao and Yen (2003), composed of questions relating to organizational culture and employee work attitudes, based in a Llikert scale. The survey response rate was 67% and is composed of 16 respondents originating from company Y and 14 respondents originating from company Z. Data analysis was made through a non-parametric statistical test, Mann-Whitney (U-test), due to the violation of the requirements for normal application of the t-test. The statistical results of the research point to the existence of different cultural perceptions among the members from each previous company, thereby implying that the merger integration process is still incomplete.

Para asignar las diferencias entre las percepciones de los empleados, se utilizó un cuestionario electrónico basado en el modelo conceptual de la investigación desarrollada por Liao y Yen (2003), cuestiones relacionadas con la cultura organizacional y las actitudes de trabajo empleado, evaluadas basado en escala de Likert. La tasa de respuesta de la encuesta fue del 67%, compuesto de 16 participantes procedentes de empresa Y y respondedores originários empresa Z 14. Análisis de datos se realizó mediante la prueba estadística no paramétrica de la prueba de Mann-Whitney (-U). Resultados estadísticos de la encuesta apuntan a la existencia actual de distintas percepciones culturales entre los miembros de cada empresa, lo que sugiere que el proceso de integración de fusión es todavía incompleto. O presente estudo teve o objetivo de analisar o processo de integração cultural de uma fusão envolvendo empresas brasileiras (denominadas Y e Z) por meio de uma análise quantitativa. Com intuito de mapear diferenças entre as percepções dos funcionários originários das empresas Y e Z, utilizou-se questionário eletrônico baseado no modelo conceitual de pesquisa desenvolvido por Liao e Yen (2003), contendo questões referentes à cultura organizacional e às atitudes de trabalho dos empregados. O índice de resposta da pesquisa foi de 67%. A análise dos dados foi efetuada por intermédio do teste estatístico não paramétrico de Mann-Whitney (teste-U).
