The teacher facing the learning difficulties: Public and private schools, different realities?

Resumo: This article is a qualitative research carried out in two schools in the South of Brazil, including a public network school and a private network school, in order to investigate the 1st to 5th teachers’ conception about the difficulties of learning. Ten teachers were participated in the research, five from each network (private and public). For the process of data collection we chose to do a semistructured questionnaire was chosen, including professional identification and ten questions. Data analysis revealed few differences between the concepts and strategies about the students’ learning difficulties. However, it could be seen that in the private schools the teachers have show more responsibility concerning the learning process of their students, showing that they value ethical dimension of their professional activity . Both, the private schools and the public schools showed gaps in their educational system that need to be filled, reaffirming what researches have been revealing, the precarious state of Brazilian education.

O objetivo deste estudo é investigar as concepções dos professores do 1º ao 5º ano do ensino fundamental, em relação às dificuldades de aprendizagem. Participaram da pesquisa dez professores de 1º ao 5º ano, cinco da escola privada e cinco da pública. Para o processo de coleta de dados, optou-se por questionário semiaberto formado por uma ficha de identificação profissional e dez perguntas. A análise dos dados revelou poucas diferenças entre as concepções e estratégias docentes frente aos alunos com dificuldades de aprendizagem.  Contudo, pode-se notar a diferença peculiar de que os docentes da escola privada sentem-se mais responsáveis pelo processo de ensino-aprendizagem de seus alunos, mostrando que estes valorizam a dimensão ética do seu fazer profissional.
