Social psychology and poverty: analysis of the disciplines of the Psychology courses in IESS of Paraná

Resumo: | The objective of this article is to investigate the issue of poverty in the field of Social Psychology, based on the analysis of subject programs of the three Psychology courses at State Institutions of Higher Education (IEES) in Paraná. The change in the profile of the profession, with the increase in the number of professionals in the critical field of Social Psychology, accompanied the insertion of Psychology in work spaces with the manifestations of the “social question”. In this sense, poverty becomes a relevant topic for the professional work of psychologists, mainly in the field of public policies. The analysis demonstrated that the Social Psychology that is presented to the students focuses on the critical perspective, rescuing its theoretical bases. On the other hand, we did not observe elements that guarantee a real approximation with the issue of poverty, which appears transversally based on themes such as inequality and social exclusion. It is concluded that the issue of poverty is not being treated in the curricular proposals with the same relevance as the discussions referring to the traditional spaces of action. |

A mudança do perfil da profissão, com o aumento do número de profissionais no campo crítico da Psicologia Social, acompanhou a inserção da Psicologia nos espaços de trabalho com as manifestações da “questão social”. Nesse sentido, a pobreza torna-se um tema relevante para a atuação profissional dos psicólogos(as), principalmente, no campo das políticas públicas. A análise demonstrou que a Psicologia Social que é apresentada aos alunos tem o foco na perspectiva crítica, resgatando suas bases teóricas. Por outro lado, não observamos elementos que garantem a aproximação de fato com a questão da pobreza, que aparece de forma transversal a partir de temas como desigualdade e exclusão social.
