Resumo: For people with disabilities, overcoming physical barriers and seeking information is a constant challenge, since most of the information resources available do not yet have adequate accessibility. The university library, as an environment that contributes to teaching, research and extension, also has the need to adapt its space, its form of service and the offer of its services, adapting them for use by people with disabilities. This text is descriptive, qualitative and focuses on elements of the literature review of an ongoing research. In order to undertake the research, it was decided to use documentary sources, analysis of the technical scientific literature in order to observe what, according to the literature, librarians working in university library systems do to satisfy the needs of people with disabilities, with regard to the use and knowledge of assistive technology resource and accessibility. As a result, some advances were found in relation to accessibility and assistive technology in the university libraries environment, but the changes are still insufficient to adequately serve people with disabilities.

Para a pessoa com deficiência, a superação das barreiras físicas e de busca de informação é um desafio constante, visto que a maioria dos recursos informacionais disponíveis ainda não possuem a acessibilidade adequada. A biblioteca universitária por ser um ambiente que contribui para o ensino, a pesquisa e a extensão tem, também, a necessidade de adaptar o seu espaço, sua forma de atendimento e a oferta de seus serviços, adequando-os ao uso pelas pessoas com deficiência. O presente texto é descritivo, qualitativo e focaliza elementos da revisão de literatura de uma pesquisa em andamento. Para empreender a pesquisa optou-se por utilizar fontes documentais, análise da literatura técnico científica visando observar o que, segundo a literatura, fazem os bibliotecários atuantes em sistemas de bibliotecas universitárias para satisfazer as necessidades das pessoas com deficiência, no que diz respeito à utilização e ao conhecimento de recursos de tecnologia assistiva e acessibilidade.
