Resumo: This research aimed to identify and analyze how the gender issue in the scientific elite is present in the scientific articles that publish about the state of Rondônia and having as data source SciELO.Org. The theoretical support of the research was based on gender issues in science, Social Studies of Science and Information Science. It was a quali-quantitative research, guided by bibliometric instruments, being exploratory and descriptive. The elaboration of bibliometric indicators allowed us to analyze the gender issue, indicating that the scientific elite of the authors is predominantly male and that the state of Rondônia arouses interest mainly in journals with scope in the areas of Biological and Health Sciences. If necessary discuss and encourage the occupation of women in places traditionally built to exclude them, such as science. Moreover, this research does not exhaust the discussion on the subject. Scientific elite.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo identificar e analisar com se configura a questão de gênero na elite científica presentes nos artigos científicos que publicam sobre o estado de Rondônia e tendo como fonte de dados a SciELO.Org. O aporte teórico da pesquisa foi embasado nas questões de gênero na ciência, nos Estudos Sociais da Ciência e da Ciência da Informação. Tratou-se de uma pesquisa quali-quantitativa, orientada pelos instrumentos da bibliometria, sendo exploratória e descritiva. A elaboração de indicadores bibliométricos permitiu analisar a questão de gênero, indicando que a elite científica dos autores é predominantemente masculina e que o estado de Rondônia desperta interesse principalmente em periódicos com escopo nas áreas da Ciências Biológicas e da Saúde. Desta forma, torna-se necessário discutir e incentivar a ocupação das mulheres em lugares tradicionalmente construídos para excluí-las, como a ciência.
