This article sought to analyze the labor market of librarians, archivists and museologists, assuming that statistics are fundamental for decision-making in the context of public policies in general. In this sense, the study defends the superiority of labor market analysis methods based on official statistics, including both the Annual Social Information Ratio (RAIS) and the General Register of Employees and Unemployed (CAGED), which was used as an empirical basis for the analysis of the labor market of these professionals of culture and information. From the methodological point of view, we opted for a quantitative approach focused on the aspect of employment movement. Regarding the librarians, it was noticed that there was a worsening in employment conditions, especially after labor reforms that, unlike the proposed discourse, did not generate more hiring for the category. Likewise, archivists had a significant number of layoffs. The museologists, in turn, even with a positive balance in the last year of analysis, had greater hiring in outsourced jobs. As a final consideration, this study is expected to assist in making decisions about the formation of these professions with a view to effectively reducing inequalities in access to culture, quality information and art in society.
