Resumo: Some ostomized people due to a chronic disease have physical disabilities and suffer from psychosocial disturbances and alterations in their lifestiles. It becomes necessary for the ostomized person to adapt to a new lifestyle in order to be reitegrated in society. The adaptation of 44 male patients was verified in an association of ostomized people in the city of Fortaleza-Ceará. Using Roy’s model, to analyse the way these pleop’s Bio-Psychosocial needs adaptations were done. In their codified, categorized phrases they reported “not feeling healty” and in the majority of cases, they were not adapted, reaffirming negative feelings in 69,8% of cases. Nurses’ diagnoses identified: depression, fear, lack of complacency to revolt, and post-trauma reaction.
