Resumo: Objective: to identify the relationship between self-care measures and the social and clinical conditions of patients with heart failure. Methods: a cross-sectional study with 100 patients with heart failure, in outpatient follow-up. To assess self-care, the European Heart Failure Self-care Behavior Scale was used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied. Results: the self-care score presented an average of 35.17 ± 7.87, with a variation of 15 to 54 points. A lower average was found in the self-care score for female patients, with a significant difference (p <0.009). The recognition of the presence of lower limb edema, the daily monitoring of body weight and the regular practice of physical activity were presented as self-care measures with greater disagreement among the investigated participants. Conclusion: a better relationship was found between the self-care measures and the female sex.

Universidade Federal do Ceará2018-11-21info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionEstudo transversal com abordagem quantitativaapplication/pdfapplication/pdfapplication/pdfapplication/pdfapplication/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.documenthttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/3306210.15253/2175-6783.20181933062Rev Rene; Vol 19 (2018): Rev Rene; e33062Rev Rene; v. 19 (2018): Rev Rene; e330622175-67831517-3852reponame:Rev Rene (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)instacron:UFCengporhttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/33062/pdfhttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/33062/pdf_1http://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/33062/98487http://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/33062/98488http://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/33062/98489Copyright (c) 2018 Rev Renehttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSousa, Mailson Marques deAlmeida, Taciana da Costa FariasGouveia, Bernadete de Lourdes AndréCarvalho, Marta Ferreira deBrito, Fabiana Medeiros deOliveira, Simone Helena dos Santos2020-05-28T15:35:25Zoai:periodicos.ufc:article/33062Revistahttp://periodicos.ufc.br/renePUBhttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/oairene@ufc.br||2175-67831517-3852opendoar:2020-05-28T15:35:25Rev Rene (Online) - Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)false
