How to think about a Feminist Epistemology? Emergence, repercussions and problematizations

Resumo: Feminist Epistemology is characterized for considering how gender issues influence our concepts of knowledge, our scientific researches and productions. This paper aims at presenting the development of researches on Feminist Epistemology and its problems. The research is justified since Feminist Epistemology has been raising questions regarding gender prejudice inside scientific production in multiple areas of knowledge. The theme has been being approached since the 1980s, by proposing methodological changes. Thus, it is needed to evaluate what are the effects of such analyses on academic production. The paper is divided in two parts. In the first one we will present the concept of Epistemology as a philosophic discipline, by rebuilding the path through which a feminist approach of it is necessary. In the second part, we will discuss how Feminist Epistemology has questioned scientific narratives and enabled a review of methodologies and practices of research, both in Natural and Social Sciences.

A Epistemologia Feminista caracteriza-se por considerar como questões de gênero influenciam nossas concepções de conhecimento, nossas pesquisas e produções científicas. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar o desenvolvimento das pesquisas em Epistemologia Feminista e suas problemáticas. A pesquisa justifica-se na medida que a Epistemologia Feminista tem levantado questões relativas a preconceitos de gênero no interior da produção científica nas mais diversas áreas do conhecimento. A temática tem sido abordada desde os anos 1980, propondo modificações metodológicas e revisando abordagens conceituais a partir das quais se produz o conhecimento científico. Desse modo, faz-se necessário avaliar como essas análises têm repercutido na produção acadêmica. O trabalho está divido em duas partes, sendo que na primeira apresentaremos o conceito de Epistemologia, reconstruindo o caminho através do qual se fez necessária uma abordagem feminista da mesma, enquanto disciplina filosófica. Na segunda parte, abordaremos como a Epistemologia Feminista questionou as narrativas científicas e possibilitou uma revisão das metodologias e práticas de pesquisa, tanto nas Ciências Naturais, quanto nas Ciências Sociais.
