When social sciences meet education: (re) thinking contemporary scenarios of educational inequalities

Resumo: The purpose of this dossier was to privilege the dialogue between the social sciences and education, more specifically the scenarios of inequalities in educational opportunities that current research has been looking at. The scenarios of social and educational inequalities are portrayed in the selected articles and bring several elements still relevant in the process of production and reproduction of these inequalities, such as characteristics of origin and characteristics of the individuals and groups surveyed. Finally, the present work will point out ways to think about those that, even with advances in the scope of educational policies, there are still social edges that need to be overcome in order to have a more just and democratic society.

Finally, the present work will point out ways to think about those that, even with advances in the scope of educational policies, there are still social edges that need to be overcome in order to have a more just and democratic society.      El propósito de este dossier fue privilegiar el diálogo entre las ciencias sociales y la educación, más específicamente los escenarios de desigualdades en las oportunidades educativas que la investigación actual viene analizando. Los escenarios de desigualdades sociales y educativas se plasman en los artículos seleccionados y aportan varios elementos aún relevantes en el proceso de producción y reproducción de estas desigualdades, como las características de origen y las características de los individuos y grupos encuestados. Finalmente, el presente trabajo señalará formas de pensar aquellas que, aun con avances en el alcance de las políticas educativas, aún existen aristas sociales que deben ser superadas para tener una sociedad más justa y democrática.A proposta deste dossiê foi privilegiar o diálogo entre as ciências sociais e a educação, mais especificamente os cenários de desigualdades de oportunidades educacionais que as pesquisas atuais têm se debruçado. Os cenários de desigualdades sociais e educacionais estão retratados nos artigos selecionados e trazem diversos elementos ainda relevantes no processo de produção e reprodução dessas desigualdades, como características de origem e características dos indivíduos e grupos pesquisados.
