The article discloses part of the academic history of the Postgraduate Program in Sociology of the Federal University of Ceará, prioritizing what is called "marks and experiences of a trajectory". It evaluates the course of the Program through two features: the interdisciplinarity as seen in the areas of Sociology, Anthropology and Political Science and the initiatory practice of research that has given them alloy and conviviality. It considers that only later, the disciplines currently classified by areas took the place of what was experienced as "knowledge of social sciences", adding a reliable name to the undergraduate course, which was extended into master’s and doctoral degrees. The Program takes as its main reference the interdisciplinary experience of the Political Anthropology Center, NuaP, (1997-2005) that fitted into a systematic whole researches of national character, involving several teachers of the Program and inaugurating innovative ways of thinking and constructing analytical corpora.
