Representations of violence on the border: a study about the regions of Grande Dourados (MS) and the OesteParanaense (PR)

Resumo: Starting from the dialogue between different and recent frontier researches, this article aims to study the social representations of violence on two border regions of Brazil: Grande Dourados (MS) and the west of Parana (PR). Therefore, it analyzes how the local press in these regions contributes to the (re)production of crime and violence representations. Over a period of three months, it was selected 2.256 news titles from four newspapers (two from each region) which were classified into three categories of occurrences. Then they were analyzed by the frequency of keywords that reinforce images, stereotypes and conceptions of border crime and violence.
