Resumo: The aim of this article will be to show how a youth cultural practice in São Paulo, the pixação (tag graffi ti), has explored the paradox between visibility and invisibility through their action in the urban landscape. Amid the anonymity of the metropolis and trying to make themselves invisible at night, street writers create an offl ine social network. Through an ethnographic approach, the paper demonstrates how they have founded a device to leave their marks providing a recognition system that rewards those who writes in places most prominent risk in the city. These marks however are not well seen by the rest of the population and therefore they are chased. Thus, the paper concludes who marks more the urban space and who runs more risks can to achieve peer recognition within the pixo. In the contemporary world, everyone wants to see and be seen, searching to be recognized and to build some sense into existence.

In the contemporary world, everyone wants to see and be seen, searching to be recognized and to build some sense into existence.O objetivo deste artigo é, por meio de uma abordagem etnográfica, descrever uma prática cultural juvenil em São Paulo, a pixação, que há tempos explora o paradoxo entre visibilidade e invisibilidade através de sua ação na paisagem urbana. Em meio ao anonimato da metrópole e tentando invisibilizar-se à noite, os pixadores deixam suas marcas, que não são bem-vistas pelo restante da população. Por intermédio da criação de uma rede social off-line, eles estabelecem um dispositivo que lhes proporciona um sistema de reconhecimento que premeia quem pixa nos lugares de maior destaque e risco da cidade. Dessaforma, conclui-se que quem marca mais a cidade e nela corre mais riscos consegue o reconhecimento dos pares, o que eles denominam como ibope.
