Resumo: The translation of philosophical texts requires different strategies, such as: a) translator’s notes; b) explanations as direct elements of the text; and c) semantic juggling under linguistically and culturally diverse perspectives. In order to accomplish the Brazilian translation of Gadamer’s abovementioned book, the translator used footnotes to emphasize nuances of certain German philosophical terms and some correspondences between German and Greek, as conceived originally by the German philosopher. The main purpose of this paper is to point out how useful translators’ notes can be to overcome some obstacles in the translation of Gadamer’s book into Brazilian Portuguese, a language in which the close links between German and Greek cannot always be maintained in the “same” way. To surmount the translation’s agon imposed by Gadamer’s text, in such a case the translator can appeal to some of the concepts advocated by Jiří Levý, e.g.: a) Semantic values and ideo-aesthetic content; b) Functionality of the target-text; c) Linguistic conditioning, linguistic form and ideo-aesthetic content; d) Minimization of difficulties; e) Re-stylization of the source-text.

Na versão brasileira do livro Die Idee des Guten zwischen Plato und Aristoteles, de Hans-Georg Gadamer, o tradutor do livro recorreu a notas do tradutor para explicitar nuances próprias do alemão filosófico e também certas correspondências entre os idiomas alemão e grego, na forma como foram concebidas originalmente por Gadamer. O objetivo principal deste artigo é mostrar a utilidade de notas do tradutor na superação de alguns impasses de tradução dessa obra filosófica no vernáculo brasileiro, que nem sempre faz jus, da “mesma” maneira, à estreita relação existente entre o alemão e o grego. Em meio ao agón translatório imposto pelo texto de Gadamer, algumas noções caras a Jiří Levý podem clarear o caminho do tradutor, como p. ex.: a) valores semânticos e conteúdo ideo-estético do texto-fonte; b) funcionalidade do texto-alvo; c) condicionamento linguístico, forma linguística e conteúdo ideo-estético; d) minimização de dificuldades; e) reestilização do texto-fonte.La traducción de textos filosóficos requiere diferentes estrategias, tales como: a) las notas del traductor; b) las explicaciones incorporadas directamente en el cuerpo del texto; c) ciertos malabarismos semánticos desde diversas perspectivas lingüísticas y culturales. La traducción brasilera de Die Idee des Guten zwischen Plato und Aristoteles de Hans-Georg Gadamer implicó que el traductor empleara notas de pie de página para explicitar matices propios de la terminología filosófica del alemán, al igual que algunas correspondencias, concebidas por el propio Gadamer, entre el alemán y el griego. En este artículo nos proponemos señalar la utilidad de las notas de traductor como estrategia para vencer los obstáculos implícitos en la versión brasilera de la obra mencionada, teniendo presente que en portugués los estrechos vínculos entre el alemán y el griego no pueden mantenerse siempre de la “misma” manera.
