Atuação e visibilidade do NUROF-UFC na educação ambiental voltada para as serpentes nos cursos de graduação do Campus do Pici

Snakes are animals that arouse a historical aversion in humans and often this leads to death. NUROF-UFC has been working in EA for almost 15 years, focusing on the conservation of snakes. The Campus do Pici has the Area of Relevant Ecological Interest, making it a refuge for the animals present on the Campus. UFC's Regional Center of Ofiology is located at Campus Pici in block 905 linked to the Sciences Center. This paper aims to show the performance of the Regional Center of Ofiology of the Federal University of Ceará in environmental education and its visibility within the undergraduate courses of Campus do Pici. Data collection for the present work is based on two tools, which are two questionnaires, one online and the other face-to-face and data analysis of extension projects. The questionnaires counted on 124 participants students from undergraduate courses at Campus Pici. With these data is perceived the interviewed students, know NUROF-UFC, only superficially, 64.5% of respondents have heard about NUROF-UFC, but 65.4% cited the item "Walking the Campus", as the vehicle by which heard about NUROF-UFC and 90.3% had not visit it yet. However, all respondents who listened about NUROF-UFC and have what had afraid of snakes, answered than NUROF-UFC contributed to lessening fear and to cognized more about snakes, arousing curiosity and interest in these animals. The data provided by the extension projects show also whit at the reach of NUROF-UFC was low the last three years, counting only on the visit of 82 undergraduate students. On the other hand, rescue and liberation data come increased the last three years, showing that NUROF-UFC has been able to carry out the conservation of these animals together the academic community, returning them to the Matinha of Pici. Therefore, it is necessary a more effective dissemination such as exhibitions and the creation of posters within the Campus, as well propel as the of social networks, increasing their visibility, thus having their performance at environmental education.
