Actinobacteria are Gram-positive bacteria with DNA rich in guanine and cytosine, but morphologically resemble fungi. They represent one of the most important classes of bacteria due to their ability to produce a wide range of biologically active metabolites. It is a group present in the northeastern semi- arid region, characterized by the cultural diversity presented. Having knowledge of this heterogeneity, the morphological characterization that has as criterion the determination of the color of the aerial and reverse mycelium, texture presented by the colony and micromorphological analysis of the spore chain, becomes an instrument to classify and identify these organisms. The objective was to characterize culturally and identify the genus of 50 strains of semi-arid actinobacteria from the RPPN "Fazenda Não Me Deixes" - Quixadá (CE). The cultural characterization due to the aerial and reverse mycelium color and the texture of the colonies evidenced the diversity of the strains, being classified in 31 different groups. The genera were identified as Streptomyces (58%), Nocardia (26%), Micromonospora (8%), Streptosporangium (6%) and Actinomadura (2%). The collection of images generated with focus on the cultural differences of actinobacteria of the semiarid will contribute with future research on this microbial group.
