Introduction: anxiety can be seen as a psychiatric symptom or psychological emotional reaction in various life contexts. It becomes relevant the discussion of anxiety assessment instruments due to its contribution in the diagnosis of anxiety disorders, which affects a significant portion of the population, especially if we consider the high levels of information consumption and technologies in contemporary society. Objective: to identify evidence in the literature about informational elements in instruments used to assess anxiety. Methods: integrative literature review from the information sources: LILACS, SciELO and IndexPsi, in the period from 2016 to 2020. The search strategy occurred using the terms: anxiety AND instrument OR scale. Results and discussion: 139 articles were found on the proposed theme and grouped into two categories: Beck Anxiety Inventory and Trait-State Anxiety Inventory. However, none of the instruments identified contemplated informational aspects. Conclusion: Certainly, a discussion involving anxiety in the digital information scenario is necessary, although already pointed out by Wurman, in the area of Health and Information Science it still requires a better approach and the literature that contemplates informational elements in the context of anxiety assessment proved to be quite restricted.
