Neodesenvolvimentismo e o abandono do meio ambiente

Since 2003 the Brazilian government adopted a new strategy for the promotion of national development based on a number of institutions, policies and ideas that many authors have called neodevelopmentism. Having at its heart the expansion of the state's role in the implementation of this strategy, the neodevelopmentism to propose to overcome the orthodox logic of the Washington Consensus, without abandoning the fundamentals of macroeconomic policy in charge while he would perform a rescue of the principles of Keynesianism has influenced the development strategies of many countries around the world during the second half of the twentieth century. On the other hand, many actors question whether to take on this new strategy for national development the Brazilian government would not have put environmental policies in the background, leaving commitments to sustainability of development. This article, through the analysis of some key documents for the strategy, demonstrating the little concern for the environmental dimension in neodesenvolvimentista speech and point out, based on the analysis of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), some explanation for this departure and speculates on ways to overcome such a situation.
