O uso do facebook em bibliotecas: o caso do Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal do Ceará

The article presents approaches regarding media and social networks. It focuses on the use of the facebook social network as a communication channel for university libraries. Its objective is to analyze the use of facebook by the 19 libraries belonging to the library system of the Federal University of Ceará. This is an exploratory descriptive research with a qualitative-quantitative approach. The data show that the libraries of the library system of the Federal University of Ceará with facebook profile total 11 and account for a quantitative of 15,628 followers in this social network, and the library with the largest number of followers is the central library of Campus do pici. Among the categories of posts, the most used with 23% of the total posted refers to the publications. It is concluded that the use of the facebook social network by the university libraries contributes to disseminate its services and products as well as a medium that offers multiple possibilities of interaction with its users. It is configured as a form of interaction that is closer to the user by using a more colloquial language. Through it, the possibility of greater visibility of the university libraries is created.
