Resumo: This work presents the rheological characterization of asphalt cements (AC), produced from a Brazilian petroleum discovered in 2000 (Fazenda Alegre field), in comparison to AC’s produced in Brazilian refineries, originated from foreign petroleum (Venezuelan and Arabian). The effect of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) on the rheological characteristics of Fazenda Alegre AC was also studied and compared to the polymer effect on the Arabian AC. The rheology was investigated by dynamic-mechanical and viscosimetric analysis. The Fazenda Alegre AC showed rheological properties similar to the foreign petroleum AC, such as Newtonian behavior; variation of complex shear modulus as a function of temperature, frequency and stress, as well as almost the same linear viscoelastic region. When modified by SBS, the Fazenda Alegre AC presented the same improvement observed by the Arabian AC, evidenced by a wider linear viscoelastic range, as well as greater stiffness, elasticity and resistance to permanent deformation.

O efeito do estireno-butadieno- estireno (SBS) nas características reológicas do CAP Fazenda Alegre também foi estudado e comparado ao efeito provocado pelo polímero no CAP Árabe. A reologia foi investigada por ensaios dinâmicos-mecânicos e viscosimétricos. O CAP Fazenda Alegre apresentou propriedades reológicas próximas dos CAP’s oriundos de petróleos estrangeiros, tais como, comportamento Newtoniano; dependência do módulo complexo de cisalhamento com a temperatura, freqüência e tensão; bem como, praticamente a mesma região de viscoelasticidade linear.
