Intervenção educativa sobre acidentes domésticos com crianças para famílias atendidas em um ambulatório de puericultura

The objective of the present study was to carry out an educational intervention on the prevention of domestic accidents and first aid to caregivers of children attending the child care service of a public university. For this, it was necessary to survey the knowledge and needs of caregivers, in order to provide greater effectiveness of educational activities. This is a descriptive-exploratory study, with a predominantly quantitative approach. The study was conducted at the Casa de Parto Natural Ligia Barros Costa, which is part of the Centro de Desenvolvimento da Familia (CEDEFAM), linked to the Universidade Federal do Ceara (UFC) and located in the Campus do Pici, Fortaleza-CE. Thirty-two caregivers aged 12 years or older, with cognitive and emotional conditions to participate in the study, and who had children up to three years old attended by the child care service of the unit participated in the study. The results showed that there is a high prevalence of child domestic accidents mainly in low income, middle school, young age and several people living in the same household. Thus, it is important to create programs and actions to prevent domestic accidents, in order to empower caregivers to be protective agents and promoters of a higher quality of life and safety of children, identifying and reversing potential and real risks For injuries that may contribute to the increase of morbidity and mortality rates.
