Resumo: Blind mother should receive orientations on baby care. It was aimed to analyze the verbal and non-verbal communication of blind mother with motor limitation with child and nurse during hygiene. This is an exploratory descriptive study of the case study type, with quantitative analysis conducted in 2009. Mother/child and mother/nurse communication were recorded and analyzed by six judges. There was prevalence of the mother as addressee with nurse and the use of the emotional function verbalizing with the child in verbal communication. And in non-verbal communication the intimate distance prevailed between mother/child and the personal distance between mother/nurse. The mother demonstrated fear when bathing the child. It was concluded that the distances established facilitates mother’s interactions with the baby and with the professional. In spite of motor and visual difficulties, the mother didn’t suffer verbal damages while establishing the communication process.

Objetivou-se analisar a comunicação verbal e não-verbal da mãe cega com limitação motora com criança e enfermeira durante a higiene corporal. Estudo exploratório, descritivo, tipo estudo de caso, com análise quantitativa realizado em 2009. A comunicação mãe/filho e mãe/enfermeira foi filmada e analisada por seis juízes. Encontrou-se predominância da mãe como destinatária com a enfermeira e utilização da função emotiva nas verbalizações com a criança na comunicação verbal. Já na comunicação não-verbal prevaleceu a distância íntima entre mãe/filho e a pessoal entre mãe/enfermeira. A mãe demonstrou medo ao dar banho na criança. Conclui-se que as distâncias estabelecidas facilitaram as interações da mãe com o bebê e desta com a profissional. Independente das dificuldades motora e visual, a mãe não sofreu prejuízos verbais no estabelecimento do seu processo comunicativo.La mujer ciega debe recibir orientaciones sobre el cuidado con el bebé. El objetivo fue analizar la comunicación verbal y no verbal de la madre ciega con movilidad limitada con niño y enfermera durante la higiene corporal. Estudio exploratorio, descriptivo, tipo estudio de caso, con análisis cuantitativo realizado en 2009. La comunicación madre/hijo y madre/enfermera fue filmada y analizada por seis jueces. Hubo predominancia de la madre como destinataria con la enfermera y uso de la función emotiva en las verbalizaciones con el niño en la comunicación verbal. Ya en la comunicación no verbal, prevaleció la distancia íntima entre madre/hijo y la personal entre madre/enfermera. La madre demostró miedo al bañar al niño. Se concluye que las distancias establecidas facilitaron la interacción de la madre con el bebé y de ésta con la profesional.
