Resumo: | The research sought to understand the behavior of search and use of information from podcast listeners from the perspective of David Ellis' expanded model, having as specific objectives: characterize the profile of the podcast listeners, describe the characteristics of the search behavior and use of the information of the listeners and test the effectiveness of the application of the expanded model of search behavior and use of Ellis information about the studied group. Methodologically, the study is characterized as descriptive and qualitative approach. For the data collection it was used the questionnaire instrument, shared in the social network Facebook and in the Whatsapp application, being 101 respondents obtained. The data were examined through descriptive analysis with the support of the categorization technique. The results showed the identification of seven of the eleven categories of the Ellis model in the studied group, validating, therefore, its applicability. As for the profile of the media audience, we observe the predominance of male gender, most listeners are between 21 and 25 years old, are students of higher education and present the habit of daily consumption of podcast programs through the use of applications aggregators, especially Spotify, due to the preference for integration of music and podcasts on the same platform, in addition to familiarity with the application and the variety of programs available. Regarding search behavior and use of information, listeners locate the podcast programs in several ways, for example, through the search strategy composed by the descriptor of the desired theme plus the term 'podcast' in Google; they do not have the habit of accessing the links present in the description of the episodes or the transcription of the information listened to; they use evaluation criteria both for the choice between the podcasts recovered in a search and to point out the degree of quality of the program after listening; they check the data and information mentioned in the podcasts when the program brings facts that conflict with their previous knowledge; they share expressively the podcasts consumed, both publicly in social networks and in interactions with colleagues; and they use the information heard in professional and educational activities (language learning) and in the midst of subject discussions. |
