The study focused in quantitative bases, through self-administered questionnaire with 77 items, addressing themes like family, education, work, leisure, health and media. The sample consisted of 1140 subjects, between 14 and 24 years, of both sexes, students from 43 public schools in Fortaleza, principal city of Ceará (Brazilian northeast), in the years of 2010 and 2011. For the analysis, was used the software application SPSS, specialized in statistical research in Social Sciences. Among the answers, 83.5% said they access the Internet to perform school work. However, only 15.2% access from their schools, while 70.5% were from Internet cafes. About the production, 63.7% answered that they have never produced media. Among those who created mostly videos and websites, few had the school as a place of production. However, among those who already have produced newspapers or magazines, 79,1% did it in education institutions. It was observed that the formal entrance of media not printed is still restricted to school space. The data have indicated that, in general, the difference of production between elementary school students and high school students is not significant. The study corroborates with another researches in the discussion of the need for public polices in education that aim, besides the purchase of equipment, at formation of all the agents of scholar community. CNPq financed this research. .

CNPq financed this research.
