Occupational stress is a topic that has gained greater importance in the lives of people and organizations. Its impact is receiving international visibility and is responsible for predictions of morbidity and mortality and of disharmony between mental health and worker's well-being. Aiming to analyze the characteristics of occupational stress experienced by a population of military firefighters operating in Ceará, in a search and rescue section, a bibliographical research was done on the subject of stress, occupational stress and occupational stress in professionals who work in the military firefighters corporation. Later, to analyze the situation of the studied population, a structured questionnaire adapted from the Lipp Stress Symptom Inventory (ISSL), the Occupational Coping Scale (ECO), the Occupational Well-Being Scale (EBET), sociodemographic and related to the activities carried out in the routine of search and rescue professionals. The questionnaire was applied to all professionals working on the working shedule of the section, totaling 26 respondents. The research is quantitative, descriptive, exploratory, bibliographical and in field, and with development in transverse time. It was possible to identify the stressors of the routine of professionals and those with the greatest influence on occupational stress, the strategies most used to deal with stress, how they feel about the profession and the stress symptoms most felt by individuals. The survey also pointed out four respondents in the resistance phase and one in the exhaustion phase, according to ISSL. Finding a percentage of 19% of professionals present in the stress phases of Lipp, being 16% of men and 50% of women.
