The present work aims to present a study on the role of Graphic Design as a facilitator of the learning of children from 7 to 10 years old about Art History, that is, to analyze which graphic resources are effective in building the understanding of readers who are starting to have contact with reading and writing. The research started with a survey of the artistic periods that occurred during history and how they are approached in teaching children. Then, a discussion was held about the illustrated book object and illustration as a visual narrative, as well as the importance of active reading within the consolidation of understanding within reading. From the information obtained, an illustrated book was created, aimed at children, which focuses on movements from the modernist period, and which uses design as a means of making the experience of the reader more active, creating visual and physical interactions, contributing, thus, with the understanding of the subject addressed.
