Resumo: | The exploration of materials for paving has caused a shortage of natural material suitable for use in road works. In view of this problem, soil stabilization emerges as a way to meet the strengths idealized in the project, because it allows improving the mechanical behavior of the mixture. The Vale do Jaguaribe region is known for its production of carnauba wax. Therefore, we propose the use of carnauba bagana, a residue generated during the wax production process, as a form of soil granulometric stabilization. Standardized tests were performed in order to characterize the soil used, coming from the Russas municipal deposit. The soil was mixed with different percentages of bagasse, and then these soil-bagasse percentages were added different amounts of cement, in order to analyze the behavior of the mixtures. For the mixtures with bagana-soil and bagana-soil with cement addition, compaction, compressive strength (CS) and resilient modulus (MR) tests were performed, in order to characterize their mechanical strength. The results proved that the bagana-soil mix with 10% cement addition (mixture 4), presents a satisfactory behavior for use in sidewalk subgrade layers. Mixture 4 was evaluated for different traffic situations: light, medium and heavy traffic. In light traffic it showed a great performance, meeting all the minimum thicknesses of the layers defined by DNIT. In medium traffic, it was possible to obtain minimum thicknesses in the base and sub-base layers of the sidewalk, and a design life of 10 years. Finally, with respect to heavy traffic, the overlay obtained the maximum thickness defined by standard, however, it was possible to analyze that the increase in the layer of mixture 4, promoted a reduction in the overlay and thus lower cost in the final value of the sidewalk. |

Maia, Camila LimaPereira, Pedro Isaac Damasceno2021-07-13T18:31:46Z2021-07-13T18:31:46Z2021info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfhttp://www.repositorio.ufc.br/handle/riufc/59526porreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)instname:Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)instacron:UFCinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2021-07-13T18:31:46Zoai:repositorio.ufc.br:riufc/59526Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttp://www.repositorio.ufc.br/ri-oai/requestbu@ufc.br || repositorio@ufc.bropendoar:2024-09-11T18:20:20.067161Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) - Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)false |
