Resumo: | The present study arose from an interest in the role of secretaries in the environment of startups, since it is a growing market and little scientifically explored by executive secretaries. The objective of the study was to analyze the perception of managerial positions in startups in Ceará about the relevance of the exercise of secretarial competencies in this business model. The analysis was based on the skills addressed by the National Curricular Guidelines of the course and on the vision of Executive Secretaries working in startups. The research, characterized as qualitative, with an exploratory approach, was implemented by means of a form via Google forms, with the participation of 30 respondents, being managers of 24 startups. According to the results, the technical, analytical and behavioral competencies were considered, however, the analytical and behavioral competencies had greater relevance and are more required in the environment of startups, highlighting the main ones as problem solving, decision-making and adaptability. The main challenge pointed out by the representatives of the startups was the difficulty in finding qualified people in the market. It was also revealed that there were no Executive Secretaries at the participating startups, although they had positive evaluations about secretarial skills. These findings showed that there is demand from managers of startups in Ceará for qualified professionals with multidisciplinary training, but they are unaware that this demand can be met by Executive Secretary professionals. The study suggests that there is room for the expansion of the professional practice of Executive Secretaries in the segment of startups, as well as in companies that need multi-skilled people to act in a market of uncertainties. Considering that the academic education in Executive Secretary is multidisciplinary and trains professionals to adapt to the needs of organizations, we observed an opportunity for the expansion of the field of work in the secretarial area. |

O estudo teve por objetivo analisar a percepção dos cargos de chefia de startups cearenses sobre a relevância do exercício das competências secretariais nesse modelo de negócios. A análise foi fundamentada nas habilidades abordadas pelas Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais do curso e na visão de Secretários Executivos atuantes em startups. A pesquisa, caracterizada como qualitativa, com abordagem exploratória, foi implementada por meio de formulário via google forms, com participação de 30 respondentes, sendo eles gestores de 24 startups. De acordo com os resultados, as competências técnicas, analíticas e comportamentais foram consideradas, porém, as analíticas e comportamentais tiveram maior relevância e são mais requeridas no ambiente de startups, destacando as principais como resolução de problemas, tomada de decisão e adaptabilidade. O principal desafio apontado pelos representantes das startups, foi a dificuldade em encontrar pessoas qualificadas no mercado. Revelou-se ainda a inexistência de Secretários Executivos nas startups participantes, embora tenham avaliações positivas sobre as competências secretariais. Estes achados demonstraram que há demanda dos gestores de startups cearenses por profissionais qualificados com formação multidisciplinar, mas eles desconhecem que essa demanda pode ser atendida por profissionais do Secretariado Executivo. O estudo sugere que há margem para a ampliação do exercício profissional de Secretários Executivos no segmento de startups, bem como em empresas que necessitam de pessoas polivalentes, para atuação em um mercado de incertezas.
