O #ocupeestelita e a nova agenda política do Recife

Resumo: The #OccupyEstelita (free translation) Movement is an initiative that has caused a debate, in the city of Recife, about how the urban space has been occupied. Independently of supporting or being against the movement, the recifenses have reflected about the city they desire to live. The public Power, the press and the citizens have showned their positions about the reflection that has been proposed by the movement. This article intends to contribute to an analysis about the representation and the activism through social networks, by studying the shutdown of the chamber of Councilors that prevented the protesters who are in favor of #OccupyEstelita from watching the voting that approved the Projeto Novo Recife. The approval is against everything the protesters advocate: the revocation of the Projeto Novo Recife that includes the construction of 13 buildings in a historical and central area of the city: the José Estelita Pier.

À luz desse debate, o Poder Público, a imprensa e os cidadãos têm se posicionado explicita ou implicitamente sobre a reflexão proposta pelo movimento. Este artigo pretende contribuir para uma análise acerca da representação e o ativismo via redes sociais, a partir do caso do fechamento da Câmara de Vereadores do Recife, que impediu os manifestantes do #OcupeEstelita de presenciarem a votação que aprovou o Projeto Novo Recife.
