Apropriação da informação, empoderamento e protagonismo social: uma análise da obra quarto de despejo

It presents results of research that has as main objective to analyze the work Quarto de despejo: diário de uma favelada of the writer Carolina Maria de Jesus, in order to identify indications of information appropriation, empowerment and social protagonism in its writing. The qualitative approach and the exploratory research method are used in the methodology. In order to collect the data, we opted for the technique of documentary research. Aiming to analyze the fragments of Carolina's diary, Bardin's content analysis technique was used to establish three categories created according to the research objectives. From the data analyzed, it was verified that the individual empowerment of Carolina can be found in several passages of her diary, because being a woman who had little schooling, she sought to provide food, education and housing to the children, and knew how to recognize that her power to fight to be a writer and get out of the favela made her an empowered woman. That is why she appropriates all the elements that made her see her virtues and her weaknesses. Even in the diary it is possible to realize that Carolina assumed the role of a person who sought in politics, a way to fight for their rights, and tried to influence the decisions that took place in the favela. It was found that Carolina went through great obstacles until she became a phenomenon of the peripheral culture that arises in the midst of poverty and the lack of policies of access to housing with dignified conditions. It is concluded that the author appropriated the information and empowered her intellectual capacity, but her social protagonism occurred mainly after her death, with the diffusion of her work nationally and internationally, and was even honored in other countries.
