Buildings are the most relevant physical spaces in urban man's life. This happens due to the safety and comfort issues provided by the project and the patrimonial aspects, leading an observation to the concept of preservation and, consequently, the maintenance of such equipment. The building inspection is the tool that provides the systemic evaluation of the constructive elements. The analysis character is, primordially, sensorial and repetitive, seen the necessity of knowing the environment as a whole and its reanalysis from a certain period of time. Thus, the general objective of this research is to conduct a case study of a building inspection in block 808 of the Zootechnic course at the Center of Agricultural Sciences (CCA), located on the Pici Campus of the Federal University of Ceará. For this work the photographic report was chosen as the method of analysis, which points out the GUT matrix of urgency of each problem raised. Thus, analyzing the structure in a general way, it can be seen that most of the problems encountered are directly related to failure or lack of maintenance. Moreover, situations that were not caused by the absence of maintenance were aggravated by it. Finally, it is concluded that the existence of adequate conservation and maintenance is essential for the useful life of the building. However, the lack of this type of action is still a very common reality in the country, with risks visibly and frequently presented in the media, with their respective damages, including financial losses and, even more harmful, loss of human life.
