Paulo Freire and humanism in education: contributions from a geographical perspective

Resumo: | Paulo Freire, although no longer present, is still current in many educational and liberating theories, his writing is still able to emanate hope many educators. The values defended by him in education can be easily appropriated by the teaching-learning process in Geography, In particular guided by Humanist Geography. In such a way, aim was to analyze the main paulofreirianas theoretical contributions, with emphasis on his humanist vision and the possibilities for teaching Geography. It stands out that such research is of theoretical nature elaborated through bibliographical and documentary research. Its main goal is to foment discussions about three main themes still little related: Paulofreiriana theory, humanism in education, school geography. |

Os valores defendidos por ele na educação podem ser facilmente apropriados pelo processo de ensino-aprendizagem em Geografia, em especial o guiado pela Geografia Humanista. De tal modo, visou-se analisar as principais contribuições teóricas paulofreirianas, com destaque para sua visão humanista e as possibilidades para o ensino de Geografia. Destaca-se que essa pesquisa é de cunho teórico elaborada por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental.
