COMPARATIVE STUDY OF WATER RESCUE OCCURRENCES ON TWO BEACHES OF FORTALEZA

Resumo: The role of the Military Fire Department in the prevention and rescue of drowning victims reveals that knowing local realities is crucial to the decision making process in the management of this service. This paper presents a study in important areas of the coast of Fortaleza, “Praia do Futuro” and “Caça e Pesca”, popular leisure destinations for residents and tourists. The objective of this work is to compare the two abovementioned areas, regarding the rescue of people in situation of danger or drowning, taking into account the situation of tides. The sample consists of records of 156 days with some occurrence in 2017. The results indicate that the tidal coefficient has greater oscillation in “Praia do Futuro” and is related to the number of occurrences which is higher in this beach as expected. The most frequent victims are young males, ages between 10 to 29 years old.

Este artículo presenta un estudio en áreas importantes de la costa de Fortaleza, “Praia do Futuro” y “Caça e Pesca”, notorios destinos de ocio para residentes y turistas. Nuestro objetivo es comparar los dos entornos mencionados, en relación con el rescate de personas en situación de peligro o ahogamiento, teniendo en cuenta la situación de las mareas. La muestra es compuesta por registros de 156 días con alguna ocurrencia en 2017. Los resultados indican que el coeficiente de marea tiene una mayor oscilación en “Praia do Futuro” y está relacionado con el número de ocurrencias que es mayor en esta playa como se esperaba. Las víctimas más frecuentes son jóvenes de 10 a 29 años y hombres.A atuação do Corpo de Bombeiros Militar na prevenção e salvamento de vítimas de afogamento releva que conhecer realidades locais é crucial para o processo de tomada de decisão na gestão deste serviço. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo em importantes áreas do litoral de Fortaleza, Praia do Futuro e Caça e Pesca, notórios destinos de lazer para residentes e turistas. Nosso objetivo é comparar os dois ambientes mencionados, com relação aos resgates de pessoas em situação de perigo ou de afogamento, considerando a situação das marés. A amostra é composta por registros de 156 dias com alguma ocorrência no ano de 2017. Os resultados indicam que o coeficiente de maré tem maior oscilação na Praia do Futuro e está relacionado com o número de ocorrências que é mais elevado nessa praia como previsto.
