CORONAVIRUS / COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN MOZAMBIQUE: CHALLENGES FOR REFLECTION ON THE TERRITORIAL AND SOCIOECONOMIC CONTEXTS OF HEALTH POLICY

Resumo: This article is the result of a partnership between Brazilian and Mozambican researchers who dialogue to think about the role of Geography in understanding the present processes related to the crisis engendered by the spreading spread of the Coronavirus. In this sense, it is essential to reflect on the dynamics in progress, analyzing the spatial dissemination of the epidemic and the country's social and health structure, so that we can understand the limits and possibilities of this territory which, in the face of the uneven global economy , has accumulated experiences of dealing with complex health problems. The methodology used refers to the analysis of documentary sources from the Ministry of Health and WHO and references from international news, in comparison with information from researchers in Mozambique. Thus, analyzing current health policies in the face of socioeconomic challenges, in the context of COVID-19, is the main contribution of this article.

En ce sens, il est essentiel de réfléchir aux dynamiques en cours, d'analyser la diffusion spatiale de l'épidémie et la structure sociale et sanitaire du pays, pour comprendre les limites et les possibilités de ce territoire qui, face à une économie mondiale inégale, a accumulé des expériences de traitement de problèmes de santé complexes. La méthodologie utilisée fait référence à l'analyse des sources documentaires du ministère de la Santé et de l'OMS et des références de l'actualité internationale, en comparaison avec les informations des chercheurs au Mozambique. Ainsi, l'analyse des politiques de santé actuelles face aux défis socio-économiques, dans le cadre du COVID-19, est la principale contribution de cet article.O presente artigo nasce de uma parceria entre pesquisadores brasileiros e de Moçambique que dialogam para pensar o papel da Geografia na compreensão dos processos presentes referentes à crise engendrada pela difusão do Coronavírus. Nesse sentido, torna-se fundamental a reflexão sobre a dinâmica em curso, analisando a disseminação espacial da epidemia e a estrutura social e de saúde do país, para que possamos entender os limites e as possibilidades desse território que, frente à desigual economia global, tem acumulado experiências de lidar com complexas problemáticas de saúde. A metodologia utilizada se refere à análise de fontes documentais do Ministério da Saúde e OMS e referências de noticiários internacionais, em confronto com as informações dos pesquisadores de Moçambique.
