Resumo: O presente trabalho teve por objetivo compreender a formação da comunidade remanescente quilombola “Os Rufinos” a partir do seu reconhecimento institucional no ano de 2013 dentro da política nacional voltada para comunidades remanescentes. A justificativa do trabalho tem como norte entender a importância e relevância social que a comunidade representa para a Cidade de Pombal-PB. Por isto, enveredamos por uma análise sociocultural para buscar compreender as caraterísticas formadoras desta comunidade, sua cultura artesanal, sua representação religiosa, seus aspectos de ancestralidade que confirmam a importância histórica que a comunidade tem para a historiografia em geral. Por fim, há relevância em poder compreender todo esse contexto sociocultural dentro de uma trajetória de implantação de políticas públicas voltadas para comunidades quilombolas remanesceste.

The justification of the work has as a north understanding the importance and social relevance that the community represents for the City of Pombal-PB. For this reason, we undertake a sociocultural analysis to seek to understand the formative characteristics of this community, its artisan culture, its religious representation, its aspects of ancestry that confirm the historical importance that the community has for historiography in general.
