Resumo: O manuscrito apresenta os resultados parciais de uma pesquisa mais ampla que vem sendo realizada em terreiros de Candomblé e Umbanda, recuperando aqui, sobretudo, a pombagira, uma das entidades presentes nos cultos afrobrasileiros do Candomblé e da Umbanda. As leituras afrocentradas não se consolidaram enquanto perspectiva epistemológica na Psicologia, por questionarem a supremacia branca e sua lógica colonialista, colocando em xeque a universalidade da experiência psicológica.
