Resumo: The slaughterhouse is a place where a series of controlled operations are carried out, making use of instruments and machines of work, so that their activities carry several risks to humans, the environment, the facilities and, consequently, to the enterprise. As a solution, control or minimization of risks, the risk management technique emerges as an option at all stages of the process in order to achieve success in the final result. Therefore, the aim of this study is to carry out the environmental risk management of the municipal slaughterhouse of Pau dos Ferros - RN. The methodology used was the Preliminary Risk Analysis - APR, which was applied for each activity of the established sectors, thereby identifying the hazard, risk, risk classification, cause, consequence, frequency, severity, degree and proposed preventive and / or corrective measures. The results showed that, in general, the highest percentage of risk classification was of the environment type, and the highest number of risks was moderate. Ten different scenarios were found, which require specific administrative and structural measures, in accordance with the appropriate standards established by the Ministry of Labor, for each situation. Therefore, it was observed that the management of environmental risks serves to promote the precaution or minimization of risks, when the proposed measures are met. Therefore, it is of fundamental importance that this methodology be applied to other types of enterprises, aiming at greater security for the population, for the environment and for the company itself.

Como solução, controle ou minimização dos riscos, surge como opção a técnica do gerenciamento de riscos em todas as etapas do processo a fim de proporcionar êxito no resultado final. Portanto, objetiva-se com esse estudo realizar o gerenciamento de riscos ambientais do abatedouro municipal de Pau dos Ferros – RN. A metodologia usada foi a Análise Preliminar de Riscos – APR, que foi aplicada para cada atividade dos setores estabelecidos, com isso, identificando o perigo, o risco, a classificação do risco, a causa, consequência, frequência, severidade, o grau e proposto medidas preventivas e/ou corretivas. Os resultados mostraram que, de forma geral, a maior porcentagem de classificação dos riscos foi do tipo meio ambiente, e o maior número de riscos foi do grau moderado. Foram encontrados dez cenários distintos, que necessitam de medidas administrativas e estruturais específicas, de acordo com as devidas normas estabelecidas pelo Ministério do Trabalho, para cada situação. Portanto, observou-se que o gerenciamento de riscos ambientais serve para promover a precaução ou minimização dos riscos, quando atendido as medidas propostas.
