This article aims to present a relatively brief excerpt of the historical process that culminated in the emergence of Ethnomethodological Conversation Analysis, an that is concerned with speech-in-interaction and human interaction through different languages, and discuss How does it settle down nowadays. In order to do so, it starts with the publication of the Cours de linguistique générale in the tradition of research in Linguistics, the development of the theory of social action in the context of research in Sociology and the conception of ethnographic research, in the tradition of Anthropology. It is understood that the unfolding of these historical landmarks in the three major areas resulted in the association of linguistic studies with Sociology and Anthropology, culminating in the emergence of Conversation Analysis.
