Scientific research profile of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ): : Bibliometric mapping of data from the Web of Science base

This work aims to outline the profile of scientific research at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ), as well as identify researchers and their areas of expertise, in addition to tracing the network of research collaboration between collaborators and institutions. . The methodology was divided into 4 parts: definition of search terms; research and data extraction; cleaning, classification and organization of data and data analysis, this work was supported by Microsoft Excel®, Vantage Point® and UCINet® v.6 software. in cleaning and creating tables, matrices and graphs. At a global level, there was a preference for co-authoring with European and/or English-speaking countries, as for organizations, the high rate of partnerships with institutions in the state of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, the IFRJ showed proficiency in exact areas, especially in the areas of Chemistry and Food Science and Technology, both areas are present on Campus Rio de Janeiro. It can be concluded that IFRJ research has been increasing quantitatively over the years and it has characteristics present in institutional history, such as the choice of research areas of the institution. It is noted that the IFRJ has a preference for partnerships with regional organizations, which may indicate that the Institute seeks to study local problems and their surroundings. When carrying out a bibliometric study about an institution, it is possible to understand the direction that the institution has been tracing in terms of its scientific production.
