Criminal execution as moral labyrinth: prisional repertoires in Rio de Janeiro

Resumo: Based on research carried out from 2014 to 2019 with a series of actors from the criminal world of Rio de Janeiro (sentencing judges, system technicians, prison officers, public defenders, prosecutors and former inmates), I will present some elements that contribute for the understanding of constitutive tensions of criminal execution, especially with regard to the relaxation of sentences in the closed regime. The main objective is to make the morally heterogeneous and conflicting nature of criminal execution more evident, exploring especially the conflicts surrounding the criminological examination.
