AGRICULTURAL KNOWLEDGE AS A CENTRAL FUNCTION: A STUDY ABOUT THE INFLUENCE ZONE OF LAVRAS (MG) AND VIÇOSA (MG)

Resumo: Knowledge is an strategic asset in modern capitalism. Then, urban centers that controls scientific production become the core of cities interactions. We use this idea to discuss the spatial organization of agriculture in Brazil. This paper aims to analyze the influence zone in the national territory of excellence centers in agrarian science. For that, we studied the cases of Lavras and Viçosa, where is located the UFLA and the UFV. Our reflections are in line with a theoretical discussion that understands the innovative process in agriculture according to the proposal of a territorial system of agricultural innovation (STIA). The methodology is based on data from Scopus and the CNPq’s Research Groups Directory to identify the partnerships of the UFLA and UFV with other universities and research centers and with companies. This paper seeks to achieve a contribution that recognizes the centrality and the influence zone using the capacity of urban centers to produce strategic knowledge for the growth and the dispersion of scientific agriculture.

Cet article s'appuie sur cette approche pour identifier les zones d'influence de Lavras et Viçosa - deux centres référence en ce qui concerne la création et la transmission de connaissances agricoles dans le territoire brésilien. Nos considérations s'appuient sur un débat théorique qui cherche à comprendre le processus d'innovation dans l'agriculture par le biais de la notion de système territorial d'innovation agricole (STIA) et d'une méthodologie construite sur la base de données Scopus - pour identifier les partenariats de l'Université Fédérale de Lavras (UFLA) et de l'Université Fédérale de Viçosa (UFV) avec d'autres universités et centres de recherche - et sur le directoire des groupes de recherche du Conseil National de Développement de Scientifique et Technologique (CNPq), ayant pour but d'identifier les collaborations de ces universités avec des entreprises. Cet article cherche à contribuer aux réflexions concernant les zones d'influence des centres urbains par rapport au commandement des flux de connaissances et aussi aux voies possibles de recherches futures.O conhecimento é um ativo estratégico para o capitalismo moderno, o que faz com que núcleos urbanos que dominam a produção científica assumam uma função de comando nas interações entre cidades. Utilizamos essa ideia para pensar a organização espacial do crescimento da agricultura do país. Nosso objetivo é analisar a zona de influência no território nacional de centros que são reconhecidos como referências nas ciências agrárias. Para isso, estudamos os casos de Lavras e Viçosa, onde estão localizadas a UFLA e a UFV. Nossas considerações são feitas com base em uma discussão teórica que visa captar o processo inovativo na agricultura por meio da proposta de um sistema territorial de inovação agrícola (STIA) e de uma metodologia pautada no uso de dados da Scopus e do Diretório dos Grupos de Pesquisa do CNPq para identificar as parcerias da UFLA e da UFV com outras universidade e centros de pesquisa, bem como, com empresas.
