Resumo: The National Parks are highlighted among the categories of Protected Natural Areas in the world, since they have followed the advances in their management, from being aimed at enjoying the scenic beauties, to the incorporation of other purposes, such as the protection of nature. Aiming to analyze what motivated the creation of Brazilian National Parks, through data collection in creation decrees and management plans, the present work identified variation in the definition of the objectives of the National Parks and in the motivating factors over time, especially with regard to the response to international, political or economic pressure. Key-Words: Conservation Unit; Planning of Protected Natural Area; Historic; Internacional Pressure; Legislation.Los Parques Nacionales destacan entre las categorías de Áreas Naturales Protegidas en el mundo, ya que han seguido los avances en la gestión de estas áreas, ya que estaban dirigidos al disfrute de las bellezas escénicas, hasta la incorporación de otros fines, como la protección de la naturaleza. Con el objetivo de analizar lo que motivó la creación de los Parques Nacionales de Brasil, a través de la recolección de datos en decretos de creación y planes de gestión, el presente trabajo identificó variaciones en la definición de los objetivos de los Parques Nacionales y en los factores motivadores a lo largo del tiempo, especialmente con respecto a la respuesta a la presión internacional, política y económica.Os Parques Nacionais têm destaque dentre as categorias de Áreas Naturais Protegidas no mundo, visto que, acompanharam os avanços na gestão dessas áreas, desde que eram visadas para usufruto das belezas cênicas, até a incorporação de outras finalidades, como a de proteção da natureza.
